Laureate Ravindra Nath Tagore was the first Non European to win a Noble Prize in 1913 for Gitanjali : A Collection of 100 Poems covering the breadth of life’s experiences from children playing in nature to man’s struggle with God. This unique collection transcends time and place .
His work is without equal and played an eminent role in twentieth century Indian Literature. He also wrote the Indian National Anthem .
