True health extends far beyond the walls of a clinical exam room. It thrives where clinical expertise, mindful movement, and community support intersect. At the Cardiology Center of Houston, this philosophy has long guided our approach to cardiovascular care. Now, that foundational belief has officially evolved into a recognized community movement with the formal establishment of Yoga with a Doc as an official non-profit organization.
Coinciding with the International Day of Yoga, the non-profit marked its official launch by hosting its first annual 5K walk and receiving a historic milestone of recognition from local leadership.

From Advanced Cardiology to Lifestyle Medicine
For over three decades, Dr. Randeep Suneja has dedicated his life to healing hearts in the Greater Houston area. As one of the very few quintuple-board certified cardiologists in the United States—holding certifications in Cardiovascular Disease, Nuclear Cardiology, Cardiovascular CT, and Lifestyle Medicine—Dr. Suneja has a unique perspective on what it truly takes to prevent and reverse chronic disease.
“Medicine can treat a condition, but lifestyle heals the community.”
This dual commitment to advanced cardiac intervention and proactive wellness is the driving force behind Yoga with a Doc. By bridging the gap between traditional cardiology and lifestyle medicine, the non-profit aims to make holistic, preventive health practices accessible to everyone.
A Historic Proclamation for Preventive Health
The official launch of Yoga with a Doc was solidified with an extraordinary honor from local government, marking a major milestone for the Cardiology Center of Houston’s community outreach. The organization was deeply moved to receive its very first official proclamation from the office of Commissioner Lesley Briones.
Presented by her Chief of Staff, Ms. Alice Lee, this designation signifies more than just formal paperwork. It serves as a powerful validation from local leadership that the non-profit’s mission—to heal, connect, and elevate communities through yoga—is deeply aligned with the future of public health and local wellness initiatives.

The First Annual 5K and the Pillars of Support
The debut of the first annual Yoga with a Doc 5K walk represents the physical launch of this long-term journey. Bringing patients, neighbors, and volunteers together to move with purpose, the event established a beautiful baseline for what will become a cherished yearly tradition.
An initiative of this scale requires immense heart and rapid collaboration. The establishment of this non-profit was brought to life by a dedicated network of community champions working alongside the Cardiology Center of Houston:
● Mahesh Bhat Ji: Whose invaluable advocacy and connection with the Commissioner’s office paved the way for the historic official proclamation.
● Suketu Kapadia Ji: Who beautifully brought the vision to life by designing the non-profit’s striking event imagery on an incredibly tight 48-hour timeline—a true labor of love.
● The SEWA Family & Volunteers: The absolute heartbeat of this movement. Their unwavering dedication to community service ensures that Yoga with a Doc has a strong, sustainable foundation for years to come.

Looking Forward: A Sustainable Path to Healing
As Yoga with a Doc plants its roots as an official non-profit organization, the focus turns toward a healthier future. By combining Dr. Suneja’s medical insights with accessible, mindful movement, we are changing the conversation around heart health in our community.
This is only the beginning of a lasting legacy. Together with local leaders, the SEWA family, and our passionate patients and neighbors, Yoga with a Doc is poised to help our community breathe, move, and heal together for generations to come.
